Irregular periods are something that most ladies go through. Irregular periods can be painful and irritating. According to Ayurveda, Menstruation is related to the three doshas called “Kapha, pitta, Vata”. It is actually the ‘Vata dosha’ that causes irregular periods. Having cold food or exercising too much can, strengthen ‘Vata’ thus, resulting in irregular periods. Few symptoms of irregular menstrual cycle are getting more often than usual periods, like in 21 days, taking longer than the usual time like 35 days, heavier and longer flow and so on. Daruharidra is the Indian barberry or Tree Turmeric. It has been used for medicines in Ayurveda for a long time. The stems and and fruits of Daruharidra are widely used for its medicinal benefits. This fruit is a rich source of vitamin C. Extracts of Daruharidra are used in managing heavy menstrual bleeding. This is due to Kashaya (astringent) properties.
